Seplat, Honeywell Flour are on the list of stocks that lost money as investors lost Rp188 billion

Investors in the Nigerian equity market lost N188 billion at the end of trading on Thursday.

This follows the fall in the value of shares of IKEJA HOTEL, HONEYWELL FLOUR, and SEPLAT among others on the trading floor today.

After five hours of trading in the capital market, equity capitalization declined to N56.2 trillion from N56.4 trillion posted by the exchange on Wednesday.

The All Share Index (ASI) fell to 99,468.90 from 99,802.08 recorded the previous day.

Market breadth was positive as 20 stocks rose and 18 stocks fell, while 72 stocks remained unchanged in 7,126 trades.

LINKAGE ASSURANCE, DAAR COMMUNICATION, and VITAFOAM led other gainers with share price growth of 9.80%, 9.66%, and 7.61% respectively to close at N1.02, N0.52, and N19.70 from N1.12, N0.57, and N21.20 per share previously.

On the other hand, IKEJA HOTEL, HONEYWELL FLOUR and SEPLAT led other price decliners as they dropped by 9.29%, 8.41% and 8.30% respectively to close at N6.35, N3.16 and N3,480.00 from opening prices of N7.00, N3.45 and N3,794 per share.

On the volume index, FIDELITY BANK led the trade with 46 million shares worth N482 million in 389 deals followed by LINKAGE ASSURANCE which traded 32 million shares worth N35 million in 127 deals.

ACCESS CORP traded 23 million shares worth N445 million in 719 transactions.

On the value index, SEPLAT recorded the highest value for daily traded shares worth N1.14 billion in 45 transactions followed by AIRTEL AFRICA which traded equities worth N569 million in 24 transactions.

FIDELITY BANK traded shares worth N482 million in 389 transactions.
