Sevilla manager Javier Pimienta has expressed his admiration for Kelechi Iheanacho’s performance in the club’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal on Friday night, while highlighting the forward’s need for improvement.

Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla as a free agent following his release from Premier League club Leicester City, made a brief substitute appearance during the match.

Despite playing just thirteen minutes, the 27-year-old managed to make an impact, forcing Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Conde into a remarkable save in the closing moments.

“Maybe he (Iheanacho) was the one who had the most problems because he played less time, but he moved very well in that difficult moment of the match and had a very clear chance to score and the goalkeeper was able to stop that play,” Pimienta told Futbal Fantasy.

While Pimienta acknowledged Iheanacho’s impact after coming on, he also hinted at the expectation that the striker will improve his game.
