The federal government has described the recent suspension of President Bola Tinubu of Shea Raw’s exports as a bold and strategic move to unlock the full economic potential of the Nigerian Shea industry and establish the country as a global leader in the sector.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, declared him on Tuesday in Minna, in the state of the Niger, while he spoke as a special guest of honor at the 20th Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (Ican) Conference of the accounting areas of the northern areas.
Represented by the general manager of the voice of Nigeria, Mallam Jbrin Baba Ndace, the minister said that politics is not a simple experiment but a forward -looking initiative designed to strengthen the rural economy.
“Insisting on the fact that a greater number of our KSEA is developed at the local level, the president is ensuring that Nigeria, which represents over 50% of the world production of Shea, does not remain a supplier of raw materials but becomes a global leader in high -level products,” said Idris.
He explained that the state of Niger, the center of Shea’s production in Nigeria, significantly benefits from politics through an increase in investments, the transfer of technology, the creation of jobs and greater participation in global value chains.
Idris praised the National Shea Products Association of Nigeria (Naspan) for supporting the president’s vision, ensuring that the government would continue to provide a qualifying environment for growth.
The minister stressed that Shea’s policy is part of the broader economic renewal agenda of Tinubu with responsibility, inclusion and national reorientation.
Speaking on the theme of the ICAN conference, “socio-economic potentials, national responsibility and reorientation: unlocking the future of Nigeria”, Idris underlined the need for citizens to live for the right values, consider the institutions responsible and put national interest in the first place.
He also highlighted the reforms pursuant to the renewed agenda of hope, such as tax discipline, the renewal of infrastructures, digital transformation and the empowerment of young people.
Projects like Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, Badagry – Sokoto Superhway, rehabilitation of the Eastern railway corridor and the creation of regional development commissions have been mentioned as examples of equitable resources distribution.
Idris also observed the progress of Nigeria on the perception index of international corruption of transparency, improving from 145th position in 2023 to 140 ° in 2024, which reflects the success of the government in blocking losses and promote responsibility.
He urged the accountants and professionals to serve as a partner in guiding national liability and renewal, ensuring that the government is engaged in transparency, good governance and sustainable development.
