Shehu Sani shades El-Rufai in cryptic tweet

The crusade of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as he sought an order from the Federal High Court in Kaduna to quash the state House of Assembly report that charged him with theft worth N432 billion, has drawn ridicule from Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.

El-Rufai, on Wednesday, filed a lawsuit through his lawyer, AU Mustapha, alleging that the Tribunal had violated his right to a fair hearing by not inviting him during the investigation.

Therefore, he urged the court to declare the report of the Assembly’s ad hoc committee imposing these charges null and void.

The lawsuit is a follow-up to the State Assembly’s ad hoc committee formed to investigate all finances, loans and contracts awarded under El-Rufai which on June 5, 2024, indicted the former governor and several of his appointees on charges of embezzling state funds amounting to N423 billion.

Sani while reacting to El-Rufai’s attempt to use the courts to stop the investigation, said the former governor is now running to court whose orders he violated several times when he was FCT Minister as well as when he served as governor.

In a cryptic post on his X account on Thursday, Sani, without naming El-Rufai directly, said:

“Those who defied court orders and destroyed people’s homes and shops are now seeking justice in court.

“People who defied court orders and seized community land and distributed it to others are now seeking justice in court.

“People who defied court orders and fired thousands of civil servants and teachers are now seeking justice in the courts.

“The man who defied court orders and refused to pay compensation to his victims is now seeking justice in court.

“The man who crippled and impoverished judges in his state is now seeking justice in the courts.

“People who arrested journalists and people who expressed their opinions on social media are now seeking justice in court.

“People with a history of disobedience to the rule of law and contempt for judges, judges and the judiciary now seek justice from those same institutions.”
