Former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has advised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike to remain calm and desist from engaging in unnecessary conflicts as it will create more distractions from significant political battles and potentially counterproductive to winning the upcoming elections in the FCT.
Omokri, who gave the advice in a post on X on Tuesday, said Wike was opening up too many battlegrounds for himself and should learn to pick his battles.
The self-styled βTableShakerβ was reacting to the feud between Wike and Senator representing FCT in the National Assembly, Ireti Kingibe.
Wike and the lawmaker on Monday, engaged in a war of words after he criticized Wike over his performance as FCT Minister.
Speaking on Arise TV, Kingibe likened Wike to FCT governors or presidents who choose to focus on infrastructure development rather than the needs of the people, adding that beneath the surface, FCT residents are not impressed with Wikeβs performance.

“A minister may be a great minister in a ministry that does not have the people. However, the unique situation of the Minister of Transportation is that in addition to infrastructure and roads, he must also consider the needs of the people in that community.
“The Minister of Land Transportation almost acts as a governor for the President. Just like the people who received me when the roads were inaugurated,” he said.
In response, Wike said:
βI accidentally heard someone on Arise TV, unfortunately, he is a member of the National Assembly.
“With all due respect, what you don’t know, you don’t know, and what you do know, you know. It’s good to admit when you don’t know something so that others can educate you.
βIf we have done well, we have done well. If we have not, we have not done well. I am proud to say that in the short time that the President has appointed us, we have done well.
βIf you are angry, go and hang yourself from a transformer. If you are popular, come and run again in Abuja, 2027. We will disappoint you. Do you think what happened last time will happen again?β
While joining in the commotion, Reno said:
“Wike has opened up too many battlegrounds. He must learn how to pick and choose his battles.
“At worst, Ireti Kingibe is just a nuisance. As FCT Minister, he has no capacity to hurt you more than being a nuisance. You are already up against a stubborn enemy in Rivers.
“Why would you leave the elephant you’re carrying on your head to use your toes to kill an ant? What if you slip and fall?
“You threatened him that he will not return. First of all, that is undemocratic. But even if Wike’s threat to stop his re-election is not undemocratic, how many ruling parties have won in the FCT?
βFCT traditionally votes for opposition parties. Buhari lost in FCT in 2015 and 2019. President Tinubu lost in 2023. Shouldnβt Wike be more concerned about winning the FCT vote in 2027 than fighting a girl?
βIf you keep making enemies wherever you go, maybe other people aren’t the problem. What is it about Ireti Kingibe that makes you unable to go beyond it by ignoring it?β
Wike has opened too many battlegrounds. He must learn to pick and choose his battles. At worst, Ireti Kingibe is just a nuisance. As FCT Minister, he has minimal capacity to do you any real harm, other than nuisance value. You are already fighting a stubborn enemy in Rivers.β¦
