Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday arrived in London to accompany the remnants of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
Buhari died at London Hospital on Sunday.
Shettima joined his wife, Nana Shettima, and presidential chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of the President’s delegation sent to the British capital by President Tinubu ‘.
Shortly after their arrival at the hospital, members of the delegation completed the formality needed before preparing the late former president for the last trip to the house.
The group was welcomed by a delegation including Foreign Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, and Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum.
After the official arrangement is completed in London, Buhari’s body will be transported to Abuja and then to the Daura in the state of Katsina, where the funeral rite will be carried out in accordance with the Islamic tradition.
President Tinubu, who announced the death of the former leader, had ordered a national flag to be hoisted in half a pole and directed the mourning period.
