LEG CAPS 2026
This is to inform all candidates seeking admission into the various Universities/Polytechnics/Colleges/other Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) portal where UTME and Direct Entry candidates can accept/reject their admission offer and also monitor their admission.
With LEG CAPSSuccessfully admitted applicants can now ACCEPT/REJECT the admission offer.
Successfully admitted applicants are advised to ensure that they indicate acceptance or refusal of admission online and in a timely manner to allow their admission to be processed.
JAMB Admission Policy states that all admissions will be done online through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS); therefore, all candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2026/2027 academic session are advised to visit the JAMB CAPS portal to check their admission status and also indicate acceptance or rejection of their admission.
THE LEG CAPS streamlines the admission process, addresses the challenges associated with manual approach, restores the autonomy of higher education institutions in admissions, puts applicants in the center of attention and provides them with information about the choices of institutions and programs available, expands admission opportunities, eliminates multiple admissions and provides easily retrievable data for decision-making and research on the education sector in the country.
Some institutions may not publish the list of candidates admitted to their various programs on their own portal or notice board. Candidates for admission are therefore advised to check LEG CAPS to continuously track their admission status.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you have accepted admission, your admission quest is over as you will no longer be available for admission to other schools. On the other hand, if you decline admission, you become available to other schools offering free admission slots for admission consideration.

About JAMB CAPS
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has created the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) platform to automate the admission process into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It also ensures quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process.
The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) should provide for a “marketplace” on the JAMB portal where institutions can access and “request students in Nigeria who achieve their cut-off points”.
The system is such that establishments can only admit those who meet their thresholds. If an applicant fails to meet the threshold, that student will certainly be denied admission, regardless of the applicant’s connection.
CAPS not only automates the process, but other innovations are also introduced. And these include:
- the possibility for candidates to confirm their provisional admission, thus eliminating cases of abandonment of admission by candidates;
- marketplace to enable institutions to search for candidates from the available pool based on various criteria such as JAMB score, state, local government and even gender of the candidates
- the requirement for all candidates awaiting O/L results to upload their results to the JAMB portal before being considered for admission
- Admissions can be processed in batches and instantly, with candidates able to check their admission status at any time on the JAMB portal.
After accepting your admission offer, you can now proceed to print your admission letter on the JAMB portal.
