“We are very messy, we don’t even do all that,” Miley admitted, explaining that the family’s emotions make traditional counseling impossible.

Miley, known for his bond close to his mother, admitted that he initially took his mother’s pain as his. “I think I took some of my mother’s pain as mine because it was more painful than hurting me as an adult, and so I had a lot of pain,” he said.

He also explained how the new relationship of his parents had helped him recover. With a happy Tish married to actor Dominic Purcell and Billy Ray found happiness, Miley stated, “I can love them both as individuals, not as a partner of parents. I became an adult about it.”

Miley acknowledged the initial struggle, acknowledging that “a child in you reacts before an adult in you can go, ‘Yes, that’s your father, but it’s only someone else who deserves his happiness and happy.'”
