Six rescued in another building collapsed in Lagos

The state of Lagos witnessed the collapse of other buildings on Wednesday, when the two -storey structure gave a way to Modupeola Street, Mangoro, in the area of ​​Alimosho’s local government, trapped several residents and encouraged emergency rescue operations.

Six people were pulled from debris, including one person trapped under the debris. The collapse occurred around 6 pm, less than two weeks after a similar incident at the meta Meta claimed four lives.

Confirming the incident in a statement shared on Instagram, the state commissioner of Lagos for information and strategies, Gbenga Omotoso, said that emergency respondents quickly arrived at the scene.

Omotoso wrote: “A two -story building has collapsed in 4, Modupeola Street, Mangoro Bus Stop, Alimosho, Lagos State.

“The cause of the incident, which occurred around 6 pm, was not immediately known.

“Government officials have launched an investigation of the incident.”

According to the Commissioner, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (Lasema) and other first respondents managed to save six people.

“Lasema and other first respondents arrived at the scene at the right time and rescued a trapped victim and five others from debris,” he said.

He added that five victims who were saved were treated at the nearest private hospital, while individuals who were trapped and suffered more serious injuries to receive immediate treatment from the Lagos State Ambulance Service and were transferred to the Lasuth Surgical Emergency Unit.

“He (trapped victim) arrived at the hospital in a stable condition and was immediately treated for further treatment. The 44 -year -old patient lived in 10, Olabode Street, Alimosho,” Omotoso added.

This incident has turned on the public concerns over the problem of recurring structural failures in the state, with increased pressure on the regulatory agency to enforce tighter building codes.

In a similar incident in July, four people narrowly escaped death when a three-story building collapsed along the Adeniji-adele road in Isale Eko.
