SLAM CUPP SLAMS TINUBU 2027 Support, Moving Calls, Democratic

The United Political Party Coalition (CUPP) has condemned recent support from the Tinubu Bola President as the only Candidate of all Progressive Congress (APCs) for the 2027 Presidential Election, describing it as “steps driven by panic, thirst for power” which damages the principles of democracy.

Reacting to development in a statement issued Thursday night, the National Secretary of the CUPP, Peter Ameh, said the adoption – called by the Governor of APC during the National Summit – had sparked public concerns that expanded and revealed the increase in anxiety in the ruling parties.

“This new motion at the National Summit of the Congress of All Progressive (APC), in which the Governor of the IMO State and the Chairperson of the Progressive Governor Forum moved for the President of the Tinubu Bola to be adopted as one -as a candidate for the 2027 presidential election, which was seconded by the Governor of Uba Sani from the Kaduna State, had increased significant concerns among new migrants,” AM Nigeria.

He noted that the time of the step – two years in the presidency of Tinubu – suggested anxiety over the popularity and public administrative sentiment amid determining economic conditions.

“This unprecedented step, only two years in the term of office of President Tinubu, marks a deep anxiety in the APC camp amid public dissatisfaction that extends with the hard economic reality faced by the state,” he added.

According to CUPP, this support does not have legitimacy and does not reflect the democratic will of Nigeria voters.

“Adoption of Tinubu as one -is a candidate for 2027 does not reflect the will of the people of Nigeria, whose voice will ultimately determine the results of the election,” the coalition emphasized.

Ameh further accusing APC was cut off from Nigerian daily struggle and using political plays to cover up the failure of governance.

“Nigerians throughout the country view this step as an indication that is troubling from the termination of the APC from the masses and efforts to damage the democratic process,” he said.

Warnings on any effort for rig or manipulating the election process in 2027, CUPP vowed to stand firm with the people of Nigeria.

“We want to clarify that the 2023 election event is only a predecessor for the collective determination of people. We stand united in our commitment to reject all efforts to manipulate, steal, or RIG elections 2027,” Ameh said.

He asked the Nigerians to remain vigilant and be active in defending democratic values as a country towards another critical election cycle.

“Nigerian voters will not be silenced, and we will ensure that our voices are heard through the power of our voice,” he said.

“We ask all Nigerians to remain vigilant and steadfast in defending our democracy. The 2027 election will be a decisive moment for our nation, and we will not let the will of the people overthrow,” Ameh concluded.
