Soludo stated LP, ADC ‘died’ in Anambra after the election of the interim

The Governor of the State Anambra, Chukwuma Soludo, has stated that the Labor Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) do not have political relevance in the state after the Saturday election.

Soludo made a statement on Sunday during the General Meeting of Victory in Nanka, where members of All Alliance All Progressive (APGA) gathered to celebrate their party’s victory at the polling station. He said the election results showed that ADC, who had deployed candidates in the state, was “nothing,” while the labor party “died” in Anambra politics.

“ADC is not in Anambra. We showed it yesterday. The labor party was dead,” Soludo told supporters who were cheering wearing APGA clothes displayed by the party chicken logo.

The Governor also swiped his predecessor, Peter Obi, who supported ADC candidates in the interim election as part of the broader opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 Presidential Contest. Obi, the 2023 Labor Party presidential candidate, had identified the coalition, which aimed at challenging the re -election of the Tinubu Bola.

Soludo, however, argues that the Anambra people strongly reject the coalition in the election of the interim selection. “They want to use it as a test case for a new herb called ADC in Anambra, but the election was won by APGA with around 77 percent. The signal we sent was that both the ADC and the Labor Party died in Anambra,” he said.

In the selection of the Senator, the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) stated that the winner of APGA Emmanuel Nwachukwu for the South Anambra Senatorial District. Nwachukwu voted 90,408 votes to defeat Azuka Okwuosa from the Congress of All Progressive (APC), which received 19,847 votes, while Donald Amangbo Adc finished third with 2,889 votes. Nwachukwu will replace Ifeyang change, the late senator representing the district, who died in July 2024.

Likewise, Inec said the APGA winner Ifeoma Azikiwe from Onitsha North Constituency I selection for the Anambra State Assembly. The governor noted that the constituency was home to Obi, describing APGA’s victory there as further evidence of the dominance of the party in the state.

Soludo, the former Governor of the Central Bank Nigeria (CBN), is looking for a re-election on the APGA platform in the 8 November 2025 Governor Election. He recently visited the Tinubu Bola President in Abuja, reiterating his long-time personal friendship with the President.
