Somalia’s troops on Sunday killed a senior al-Shabab leader who was responsible for finance during the targeted operation carried out in the southwestern region of the country.
The National Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday that Abdullahi Abukar, who managed funds was squeezed from civilians and coordinated the recruitment of children’s army, was killed near the city of Hudur in the Bakool region.
“Abukar is the main operative that has long been operating in Bakool under Al-Shabab’s control and is one of the most sought-after figures in the group,” the ministry said.

The ministry praised the success operations carried out by the Somali National Army.
It is said that precision operations eliminate significant threats and provide a big blow to the Al-Shabab operational network in the region.
The latest operation came the day after the Allied forces reclaimed the strategic city of Bariire, which was used by Al-Shabab as a launch for terrorist attacks in the region and Mogadishu.
