South Africa reordered the Nigerian shepherd acquitted of rape

A Nigerian televinist recently acquitted of multiple accusations of rape has been reached for immigration crimes, South African police said on Saturday.

Timothy homooso was released last month, nine years after being imprisoned to be tried on the charge of sexually raping and attacking several young women from his church.

His acquittal aroused anger throughout South Africa after the judge discovered that, while the explanations of the shepherd appeared unlikely, the public ministries had managed the case against him badly.

On Saturday morning the immigration authorities and the police arrested homolyo in the city of East London, “immediately after the church,” police commissioner Fannie Masemola told journalists.

“He will have accusations relating to the violations of the Immigration Act and on Monday he will appear in court,” he said.

The 66 -year -old shepherd at the Church of Jesus Domino International (JDI) based in South Africa was arrested in 2017 with 32 accusations, including rape, sexual exploitation and deals with human beings.

Several young women, some of whom were still at school at the time, witnessed that they had been selected by Hands by homooso, who would have prayed for forgiveness after each meeting with them.

In April, the judge of the Eastern high Court Irma Schoeman criticized the management of the case by the accusation, stating that the state had not shown himself beyond any reasonable doubt against homooso and two assistants, who also had to face accusations.

South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape and gender violence in the world.

Over 42,500 rapes have been reported in the financial year of 2023-24, according to the police statistics, equal to over 116 rape per day.
