Sowore alleges 2,000 #EndBadGovernance protesters detained, 40 killed by security forces

Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore has alleged that at least 2,000 Nigerian youths who participated in the #EndBadGovernance protests earlier this month are still in detention.

Sowore, who raised the alarm in a post on X, said more than 40 protesters had been killed while many including 27 journalists and whistleblowers had been arrested by security agents since the protests.

He wrote: “Just one #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria uprising, @officialABAT and his thugs have arrested 2000 protesters, killed 40 peaceful protesters, injured many including 27 journalists, kidnapped whistleblowers, stormed @NLCHeadquarters and harassed their family members.

“I think this is why the NIA DG resigned; after helping @mbuhari commit several atrocities, including the abduction and extraordinary detention of @MaziNnamdiKanu, he could not continue the scale of violations and torture planned for Nigeria by the Tinubu regime. Or perhaps he was simply not up to the task ahead!

“The darkest days have come, but we all MUST reject and FIGHT. This is fascism gone bad. Let everyone take a stand NOW.
A #REVOLUTION is inevitable at this point.”
