Sahara journalist publisher, Omoyle Sowore, has filed a lawsuit for the enforcement of basic rights against the Federal Government at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
State Service Department (DSS), Social Media Giant, Meta (Facebook), and X Corp (Previously Twitter), registered as respondents in the lawsuit.
This happened a few hours after DSS submitted a criminal claim for five counts of activists in the same court to make a statement of slandering the Ball President Ahmed Tinubu.
The agency last week asked the social media giant to attract the post from their platform.
The Sowore Legal Team confirmed the lawsuit in a statement signed by a Temokun Top on Tuesday.
The team said that the lawsuits were submitted to challenge the “non -constitutional sensor” from the Sowore account with Meta and X.

The statement reads: “Censorship of political criticism is foreign to democracy. The constitution of the Republic of the Federal Nigeria, in section 39, guarantees that every citizen of the right to freedom of expression, without interference. There is no security agent, no matter how strong, can suspend or remove these rights.
“They (Meta and X Corp) cannot hide behind neutrality while authoritarianism is exported to their platforms.
“That DSS does not have the power in the law to censor the Nigerians on social media; that Meta and X should not lend their platforms as a means of repression; and
“That the rights of our clients and with the extension, the rights of all Nigerians, are fully protected from sensors that violate the law.
“We call for all lovers of freedom, journalists, defenders of human rights, and Nigerians to stand firm. Today @yelesowore; tomorrow maybe you
“This struggle is not about personality. This is about principle. And we will reject every effort to turn Nigeria into a digital dictatorship.”
