Sports Minister praises CAS clearance for Amusan, says Tobi has always shown passion and commitment

The Honourable Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has expressed immense joy and relief on behalf of all Nigerian sports lovers following the clearance of Oluwatobiloba Amusan by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The senator said the ruling represents a significant boost to Nigeria’s hopes for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“Seeing Oluwatobiloba Amusan acquitted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) brings immense joy to all sports-loving Nigerians,” said Senator Enoh. “We are looking forward to a strong representation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Tobi has consistently demonstrated his commitment and passion on the track, and this news is incredibly exciting for the entire Nigerian team.”

Tobi Amusan, Nigeria’s star hurdler, faced a charge of violation of whereabouts rules brought by World Athletics and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). However, the CAS dismissed the charges, stating that Amusan did not violate Rule 2.4 of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules (WA ADR).

The ruling read: “Accordingly, the impugned Decision in which the WADT found that Tobi Amusan did not violate Rule 2.4 of the WA Anti-Doping Rules (WA ADR) and that no period of ineligibility should be imposed on the athlete is confirmed.” .

This decision ensures that Tobi Amusan can continue his preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games without restrictions, to the delight of his fans and supporters. His dedication and talent have been a source of inspiration, and his clearance is seen as a victory for clean sport and justice.

“We are delighted with Tobi and are confident in his ability to make Nigeria proud at the Paris Olympics,” Senator Enoh added.

“This sentence reinforces our belief in his integrity and dedication. We look forward to witnessing his outstanding performance on the world stage.”
