Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have killed students at Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State. Faudiya School belongs to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shia sect in Nigeria. According to sources, the attackers invaded Hausari neighborhoods in Geidam Local Government Area at around 3:44 am on Friday, August 30, 2024. A source told Daily Trust that the gunmen struck while the victims were sleeping. “The incident occurred at around 3:44 am when the gunmen invaded Faudiya School, a well-known Shia school in Geidam,” the source said. “They (gunmen) attacked the school while these youths were sleeping and took them out and shot them dead. “There is tension and concern in the town following this incident. People are terrified by this unfortunate incident.” Another source in the vigilante command told the publication that three members of the Shia sect were killed while one sustained injuries. “We do not know who they (the gunmen) are, but all we know is that they killed three students in the school. One person who tried to escape during the incident was injured and has been admitted to hospital,” he said. Spokesman of the Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident but did not provide details.
