SLU HAS OBTAINED FULL ACCREDITATION OF ITS THIRTEEN CORE PROGRAMS
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to thirteen undergraduate programmes of the Sule Lamido Kafin Hausa University (SLUK). This is in line with Section 10 (1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 which empowers the NUC to set minimum academic standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian universities and also to accredit such programmes.
The approval which was conveyed to the University through a letter referenced NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/361 and dated 6th June 2024 and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, implies that the B.Sc. Computer Science taught at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT) has been granted full accreditation for the second time. In the Faculty of Education, B.Sc. (Ed) Biology, B.Sc. (Ed) Chemistry, BA (Ed) English, B.Sc. (Ed) Mathematics and B.Sc. (Ed) Physics have also been granted full accreditation.
In the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Bachelor of Arts in Arabic, Bachelor of Arts in Hausa, Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies, and Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies programs have also been validated by the second accreditation process. Other programs that have obtained full accreditation from the NUC are the Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and Bachelor of Arts in Physics, which are taught in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences.
Describing the success recorded by the University in securing this victory, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, fcasson, mnae, revealed that it was a clear indication that the University is working hard to achieve its mission and vision in ensuring quality education for academic excellence.
It is worth recalling that the accreditation process was carried out by the NUC within the University between October and November 2023.
