He confessed that although his opponent tried hard in their last fight, it was easier than he thought, hence his verdict that there is no match for him at the moment.
The ambitious lad, who represented Borno State at the National Sports Festival, further revealed that he is targeting another victory at the upcoming Nigeria Boxing Championships to kick-start his countdown to the next Olympics.
Adekoya said: βI am an amateur boxer in the 54kg category. I have 85 wins, three draws and one loss.
βIβm happy to have won this fight, but I didnβt think I would have such a good performance. It was easy for me and Iβm very grateful.β
βThe fight was good. The opponent tried, but I won 3-0. Now I see that there is no one who can challenge me in my weight class.β
βAnyone who wants to challenge me can come. Letβs arrange the fight, letβs set a date. Iβm ready for everyone. Bring anyone, letβs play gate, letβs fight.β
She then looked beyond her current situation and stressed that her biggest goal is to make Nigeria proud at the next Olympic Games, four years from now.
βI represented Borno State at the Festival Games where I was the first medallist. I am now going to compete for the national championship this year and I promise to win a gold medal for my state.
βAfter that, my goal is to win gold for Nigeria at the next Olympics. I will do my best to maintain my continuity and win gold for Nigeria. I also want to be the best in the world in my category,β Adekoya said.
