The Nigerian striker, Josh Maja, could miss the rest of the season, since he is still struggling to recover from an injury at the bottom of the leg, according to West Brom’s manager, Tony Mowbray.
Maja has been marginalized since the beginning of January after suffering the injury, which required surgery.
At that time, I was in an impressive way, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 26 appearances.
Initial estimates suggested that he would return in February, but his recovery has taken longer than expected, which forced Miss West Brom in the last 14 games in all competitions.
Providing an update on Maja’s situation, Mowbray admitted that the back of the striker is still uncertain.
“I saw Maja on Tuesday, happy, pleasant and smiling, but he still feels a bit far away, but hopefully if we can extend the season, he could play a role to play,” MowBray told Express & Star.
“I am sure it has been difficult. It has been in an orthopedic device to its left most of the time I have been here.
“When I meet him in the corridor and ask him how it is, it’s quite positive. I think he is anxious to return and show us what he can do.”
“You should say that Maja is a failure for the football club with his goals that he could obviously bring and has already brought the first half of the season.”
West Brom has only seven games in the championship, and still on the margin, he is ready to miss them all.
However, if the Baggies ensure a play-off place, there is a slight possibility that I can return in time to contribute.
With West Brom currently sitting sixth in the championship, the battle for a play-off place is still fierce.
