Super Falcons coach Waldrum optimistic about 2024 Olympics

The former African champions will compete in Group C alongside Brazil, former world champions Japan and reigning world champions Spain.

Waldrum revealed her squad for the women’s soccer event on Thursday, expressing optimism about their potential performance.

The Super Falcons recently impressed at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, advancing from a tough group that included reigning Olympic champions Canada and Australia.

“I think this could be a special group,” Waldrum told ESPN.

“We have proven our quality against some of the best teams in the world at the World Cup and we hope to do the same at the Olympic Games.”

The Super Falcons will begin their campaign against Brazil at the Stade Bordeaux on July 25, followed by a match against Spain on July 28 and their final group game against Japan on July 31.

The last two matches will take place at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
