Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed three police officers in Tordamisa community in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
They also shot dead a 60-year-old leader of a vigilante group in the village.
Acting Police Public Relations Officer at the State Police Command, Victor Mshelizah. confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday in Jalingo.
He said: “The operation followed an emergency report from Zaki Orbanga, a resident of Tordamisa, Akate Region, who reported that armed men suspected to be bandits had attacked Tse Kwe village.
”On receipt of this information, a police team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Donga, together with members of the Task Force, were immediately mobilized and deployed to the scene of the incident to restore order and protect residents.
Arriving at the location, suspected armed bandits opened fire at the police team, resulting in a fierce shootout. Police officers quickly responded and repelled the attackers.

“It is regrettable that during the encounter, CPL Raphael Danjuma and PC Ebenezer Daniel suffered fatal gunshot wounds in the line of duty. Another officer, PC Samuel Bawa, was initially reported missing during the operation. A search party was subsequently organised, and his body was later found in nearby bushes.
“In addition, the body of Nutsa Tyav, the 60-year-old leader of the Vigilante Group in Tordamisa Village, was also found after the attack.”
