Suspected pirates kidnap 10 maritime workers in Rivers

Armed men suspected of being sea pirates on Monday kidnapped 10 maritime workers in Rivers State.

The victims were on their way from Bonny to Port Harcourt waterway when they were attacked.

The Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Rivers State District, Israel Pepple, confirmed the incident to journalists in Port Harcourt.

He said, “Yes, 10 people who came from Bonny to Port Harcourt were kidnapped this morning. We have reported the matter to the security agencies.”

The state police command also confirmed the kidnapping.
