Suswam: Tinubu, Alia will be re-elected

Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has said the state was completely stalled over the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Suswam stated this on Thursday in Makurdi when he visited the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Makurdi.

The former governor who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC has boasted of Benue’s full support for the re-election of Tinubu and Alia.

According to him, history has shown that Benue has always been a one-party state and is now APC.

He said he and other illustrious elder statesmen and their supporters in the state decided to join the APC because of President Tinubu’s robust economic reforms.

“Benue is completely blocked for the president, governor and other APC contestants. We, as a state, want to give Tinubu more support than he got before so as to get a bigger and better dividend of democracy.

“He has given us the secretary to the government of the federation and an A-grade minister, and it is important that every son and daughter of Benue supports his re-election and the governor.

“With time, we will get the benefits of Tinubu’s economic reforms. He has taken very courageous decisions, and it takes a tough president to do that. In the initial stage we will suffer, but with time everything will be fine,” he said.

Suswam praised Alia for not abandoning projects started by his predecessors and urged him to continue.

On the possibility of running for an elected position in 2027, he said all options are still on the table.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the APC, Benjamin Omale, said the presence of Suswam in the party secretariat was very significant for the party and the state.

Omale described the visit as a huge political statement and appreciated them for joining the APC.

The President thanked Tinubu for standing for truth and justice on the issue of party structures in Benue.

He assured Tinubu of the full support of Benue APC during the 2027 elections.
