Tambuwal warns against electoral manipulation and urges

Senator Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto State, says no individual or group can manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections, insisting that Nigerians will ultimately decide their leaders.

Tambuwal (ADC-Sokoto South) made this statement on Sunday while addressing journalists on the outcome of the State Congress of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), held in Sokoto on Saturday.

He dismissed speculations that the results of the 2027 general elections could be written in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that such a move would be impossible.

“Some believe that the results of the 2027 elections will be written in favor of the APC.

“But how will this be possible?” he asked.

“It is not possible to write results to claim victory where none exists,” he said.

The deputy recalled his past political decisions, stating that he had always maintained his principles.

“This includes when I disagreed with former President Goodluck Jonathan during my tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, and later with President Muhammadu Buhari while serving as governor,” he explained.

According to Tambuwal, the recent spate of governor defections to the ruling party reflects political insecurity rather than improved governance.

“Today, many governors are rushing to join the APC, not because things are improving, but because they believe that the 2027 results will be written in the party’s favor,” he said.

The former governor also rejected claims that the president could use security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to influence election results, insisting that “Nigerians are vigilant and determined.

“Nigerians are taking note. It is clearly a competition between the government and the people, and the people will prevail In-Sha-Allah.”

Tambuwal also promised that an ADC-led federal government will decisively address insecurity and reposition Nigeria for growth and development.

“We will withdraw the APC in 2027 both nationally and in Sokoto State. Nigerians should join hands with the ADC to realize this vision,” he warned.

He described Sokoto as a stronghold of the party, urging unity among members to achieve their political goals.

The senator also praised party members for their decorum, peaceful conduct and active participation in the congress.

At the end of the exercise, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu emerged as the State President, along with Bello Isiyaku as Vice President and Kabiru S. Fulani as Secretary.

Others elected include Kabiru Hali (Vice President, Sokoto Central), Abdullahi Bafarawa (Vice President, Sokoto East) and Sadiq Sanyinna (Vice President, Sokoto South), among other officials.
