Cameroonian gospel singer TelDebbie has just released her debut single titled βWhat The Lord Has Saidβ.
TelDebbie was born on June 8, 1972 to Mr. and Mrs. Mbunya. She was named Telelen, which means (a girl without a name). At 29, she was renamed Deborah.
As a child, it was not uncommon to see TelDebbie climbing on closets or chairs, holding an object as a microphone, singing at the top of her lungs. This act was seen as worldly by her strict born-again parents, and earned her a few beatings. Among her peers, she was often labeled as a *forming forming mami because she sang songs that were not considered real songs because no one knew them. At 9 years old, her brothers laughed at a song she composed, so much so that she decided not to sing the unreal songs that came to her mind. Little did she know that this was a gift and a talent. She stopped composing songs, but continued throughout secondary education, remixing other people’s songs in order to convey that feeling she had inside of her. She was a member of an all-girl group in high school, where she performed on and off campus.
Being an educator, TelDebbie would turn difficult topics, concepts or formulas into a song. This earned her the title of a success story creator, as every child she taught was successful. Children with learning disabilities found it fun to learn with her. She wrote many school songs, hymns and gospels. It was in the recording of one of the school songs that the studio boy Mbotake Christian challenged her to make a gospel single. She immediately accepted the idea as if to say TELELEN DEBORAH WHAT THE MR HAS SAID CONCERNING YOUR LIFE SO SHALL IT BE AMEN.
