Temporary N31 Million Court Obligations, Four Properties are related to Alleged Fraud

The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has provided a temporary confiscation order for the number of N31 million and four properties that are allegedly obtained in a way that violates the law with one Obiajulu Emmanuel.

This decision follows the ex-party motion submitted by the Directorate of Zonal Lagos 1 from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). Judge Alexander Owoeye delivered a decision on May 8, 2025.

EFCC revealed the development in a statement on Monday, noted that the motion was presented by his advisor, CC Okezie.

When talking to the court, Okezie explained that the application was supported by a written statement of eight paragraphs sworn in by Yusuf Hassan, an EFCC investigation officer. He asserted that the funds and property referred to were likely to be obtained through criminal behavior.

“The property is thought to have been obtained with the results of activities that violate the law,” he said during the trial.

After considering the submission and supporting documents, Judge Owoeye decided to support EFCC.

“It has been fully persuaded by the evidence presented before the court. The application hereby is given,” the judge said.

The scorched assets include a variety of residential properties in Lagos, ranging from four -bedroom terrace duplexes and three -bedroom terrace duplexes to several one -bedroom apartment units and two bedrooms.

Judge Owoeye further directed EFCC to issue a temporary confiscation order in the national newspaper, which allows any party with interest in property or funds to fight over the decision.

“The commission hereby is directed to issue a temporary order in any national newspaper. To allow people who are interested in showing the reasons why funds and property will eventually not be scorched to the federal government,” the judge ordered.
