The Tennista Foundation has offered scholarships to the winners and runners -up in the categories of children, respectively, of its newly completed junior junior tennis tennis tournament.
The tournament saw an intense competition between 55 young athletes, showing exceptional, determined and sports talents during the exciting 4 days, starting from the preliminaries to the final on the grass tennis court inside Rowe Park, Yaba.

The final matches delivered impressive performances, sealing the emergence of David Edward and Goodnews Aina as the winner of the children U16 respectively.
Edward triumphed over Benjamin Joel, who ended up as a runner -up of boys, while in the girls’ final, Aina beat Benjamin Ndifreke in an intense game that caused the crowd to encourage from beginning to end.
To reward his arduous work, dedication and outstanding talent, the Tennista Foundation granted ₦ 100,000 scholarship support to each of the winners of the first place, while the runner -ups received ₦ 75,000 scholarship support.
In addition to these educational awards, the winners were presented the new professional tennis rackets of Dunlop, personalized backpack kits, gold and silver medals, and individual trophies to mark their well -deserved victories.
The president, the Tenista Foundation, Michael Nwoseh, described the tournament as more than a competition, but a platform to show potentials.
He expressed the company’s commitment to support the development of base sports, saying that the Foundation is aimed at offering academic life and skills to young athletes in all sports.
“This moment is special not only for the winners, but for each child who participated in this tournament. We have witnessed some of the best samples of skill, resistance and sportsmanship.
“This is exactly the reason why the tennis foundation exists, to give young talents the platform to prosper and dream bigger,” he said.
The president of the Lagos State Tennis Association, Tokunbo Agoro appreciated the basis for organizing the tournament, emphasizing the need for public public associations to increase sports at the base level.
“This is the easiest way and the basis of reaching young people, developing young talent and there is no better way than putting them in a competition environment. In that way, their true ability will be exhumed and we can see where we are going from there,” he said.
