The Julius Abure faction of the Labor Party criticized President Bola Tinubu’s government on Monday, urging him to carry out a thorough evaluation of his administration and dismiss ministers and heads of institutions who have failed to move the country forward.
Considering the current economic situation, the faction rated the APC-led government as scoring only 2.5 out of 10.
Speaking at a press conference in Abeokuta, the Publicity Secretary of the party faction, Abayomi Arabambi, stated, “The bitter truth is that even under President Tinubu, Nigeria has not moved forward.”
Arabambi attributes the stagnation that has occurred in the country over the past 64 years to “the lack of political will and capacity of past governments to serve the people and strive for good governance, equality, and justice that promote comprehensive development.”
He called for the sacking of Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, along with other executives, stating that they had failed to manage the oil sector in a manner that benefited Nigerians at large.

Additionally, Arabambi urged the President to revoke the licenses of Electricity Distribution Companies, criticizing their lack of response to ongoing electricity supply problems.
“If I were to rate President Bola Tinubu’s government on a scale of 10, then I would give this government a 2.5, considering the poor state of the economy among other things,” he said.
He emphasized, “The truth is that Nigeria is not moving forward, and that is why we are saying that as we celebrate the 64th anniversary of independence, the President must reorganize his cabinet.”
Arabambi stressed that appointments should be based on merit and not political affiliation, stating, “Nigerians deserve more than we are currently receiving under this administration.”
He also criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for its handling of corruption allegations against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
“In the case of Yahaya Bello, it is very clear that the EFCC is doing the heavy lifting. “The person you declared a fugitive even after you tarnished his reputation and tried him in the media, came to your office, said ‘this is who I am,’ and you sent him home,” Arabambi said.
He added, “Later at night, you attacked him, starting shooting in a residential neighborhood; the person is legally entitled to feel as if an attempt was made to kill him.”
