The alleged bandits of kidnapping members of the council, Islamic scholars in Zamfara

The armed people suspected of being bandits on Wednesday kidnapped two members of the council and an Islamic cleric in the Tsauni community in Gusau, the state of Zamfara.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday at Gusau.

The board members represent the Gidan Gona and Tsibiri ward in the Maradun Regional Government area in Zamfara.

The spokesman said the victims were kidnapped in front of their house in the Tsauni area around 19:00, shortly after prayer.

The Tsauni community is located behind the Zamfara State Command headquarters from Federal Road Safety, Corps (FRSC) in Gusau.

The community has hosted internal refugees affected by armed bandits from different communities.

Abubakar, however, said the order had mobilized his people to the area, and efforts to save the three men were ongoing.

He urged residents to help the police with relevant information in the right time to reduce the incident.
