A witness close to the scene and a merchant on the market that simply identified as Chinwendu said: “The accident occurred this morning while some merchants were showing their goods, the agents of Ocha Brigade came on the spot and strongly ordered to remove their goods.
“This has led to some alterations between traders and agents and, in the process of dragging goods with merchants, the agents of the OCHA brigade opened fire and started shooting in the air.
“This led to the pandemonium as people, including traders and passers -by, they climbed rescued.

“This is heartbreaking. As a result of the filming, four innocent people who left their homes this morning were affected by stray bullets. Among these there is a pregnant woman and three others.
“Their lifeless bodies were subsequently taken away by the police officers who arrived on the scene.”
The development has fueled widespread anger, with merchants complaining about the way the operators of the OCHA brigade terrified them in the markets.
When he was contacted on development, the spokesman for the Ambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the accident, saying that the situation is under control and the calm has returned to the market.
“Even if we have not obtained all the details, we have a relationship that some security agents, while performing their functions, have opened fire and this has led to the killing of three people.
“The situation is under control and the calm has been restored on the market. We will provide more details as soon as we have the complete details of the accident,” added Ikenga. [The Punch]
