The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the party chairman, Fubara Dagogo, over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced by the leadership of Ward 4, New Layout, in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The suspension letter dated March 16 was jointly signed by Party Chairman Richard Ibani Benstowe and Secretary Donald Jumbo.
Reading the notice in a video seen on the social media platform, Chief Benstowe said Dagogo’s action is contrary to Article 21.2 (I) (II) and (VII) of the 2022 APC Constitution as amended.
He noted that Dagogo acted in a manner that mocked the party and went against the party’s constitution.

Benstowe said: “Following the decision of the members and leadership of ward 4, New Layout, at an emergency meeting held on March 16, 2026, you are hereby indefinitely suspended from the APC on the grounds of Violation of the provisions of our party constitution.
“Anti-party activities and actions that can embarrass and have a negative impact on our party as well as ridicule and defame the party.
“Violating the laws and regulations and decisions of our party. Disobedience and negligence in carrying out the party’s legitimate directions. Making unguarded statements and denigrating the party leadership in the country and abroad.
“This is contrary to the party’s articles 21.2 (I, II and VII as amended. The party has warned its members to desist from carrying out actions that could ridicule the party, but your recent actions show that you are not willing to comply with the party’s decision.
“Your suspension will take effect immediately and we hereby urge the Secretary of State to support our resolution with the necessary actions.”
However, the suspension is understood to be directly related to Dagogo’s lawsuit against the party for not participating in the nomination of the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South South).
Dagogo has stated that he was unfairly excluded from running for the post at the party’s regional convention held on Wednesday, despite having paid N5.1 million for the nomination form.
It can be concluded that Dagogo, who had requested the suspension of the regional convention, refused to back down in his efforts to uphold justice, and that his stance was the main reason for the suspension.
