First division side Deportivo Riestra of Argentina have announced the signing of 24-year-old Nigerian winger Johnson Kalu Nsumoh on a free transfer, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
He met his new teammates at Speed Camp after completing a routine medical exam today. Last year he played for OFK Baník Lehota in the Slovenian second division.
His contract will run until December 2026. He signed his contract and was registered with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) on January 26, before the transfer market closed.
The process to obtain his work visa took more than two months, until Nsumoh was finally able to arrive in the country.
Nsumoh will be the second African player in the club’s history to wear the Malevo shirt, after the time in the youth categories, in 1986, of Juan Carlos Ecomba, born in Equatorial Guinea.
At the national level, he is the third Nigerian player to reach the Argentine First Division, following in the footsteps of Félix Orode in San Lorenzo de Almagro and Okikiola Afolabi in Talleres.
