The police operation in Nasarawa has arrested two alleged smuggling of weapons with a large cache of firearms and ammunition in the state.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Ramhan Nankel, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lafia.
He said the operation was important in the war against illegal weapons trade in the state.
The spokesman said: “The order, acted based on credible intelligence around 3:00 in the morning on Wednesday, intercepted the two suspects who traveled through the Lafia that had a large cache of firearms and high -quality ammunition on the journey of Ilorin, Kawa Kawara, from Benue.

“Following the rapid distribution of anti-children’s units, intense and carefully executed operations causing the arrest of the suspects.”
Nankel registered the suspect as Lawal Sani (40) and Dahiru Abdullahi (75).
“The items recovered from the suspects include a general destination machine rifle (GPMG), three AK-47 rifles, one tab 06 rifles, and 1,096 rounds of ammunition 7.62 x 39mm.
“Others are 20 rounds of NATO 7.62mm caliber ammunition, four empty magazines, and one Toyota Hiace bus, gray with AAA 926 XL registration number,” he added.
