The arrest of the police alleged IPOB informant in Anambra

The police operation in Anambra has arrested a suspected member of the native Biafra (IPOB) for alleged extortion and terrorism in the territory of the Ihiala Regional Government in the state.

The 62 -year -old male suspect is also an IPOB informant and is responsible for the extortion network operating in the area.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed this in a statement on Thursday at Awka.

He said the police operator attached to the fast response force (RRS), Awuzu, arrested the suspect on Wednesday.

Ikenga said: “Initial information revealed that the suspect is responsible for illegal levies to traders in the Isseke and Orsumoghu communities, collecting 10,000 and above each month from each trader.

“He also squeezed ₦ 100,000 and above from the family who held a funeral ceremony before the opportunity or related event in the area.”

He added that illegal results were allegedly sent to the IPOB commander in the area.

“The suspect in detention and further investigation is underway,” said the spokesman.
