The British Parliamentary Group Petition for ‘wrong information’ which is dangerous for Badenoch in Nigeria

The Nigerian peace development organization, Foundation for Peace Professionals (Peacepro), has proposed a formal petition with the British Parliament and the Conservative Party, accusing members of the British Parliament RT. Hon. Kemi Badenoch made a diplomatic misleading and destructive comment about Nigeria.

The petition, signed by the Executive Director of Peacepro Abdulrazaq Hamzat, gave a concern for comments made by Badenoch – a member of the British Parliament and the leader of the Conservative Party of Nigerian descent – during his new performance at GPS Zakaria CNN. In the interview, he claimed that the Nigerian constitution did not allow women to move citizenship to their children.

Peacepro strongly denied the statement, calling it “entirely wrong” and “without a legal basis.”

“There is no legal basis for such claims. The Nigerian constitution does not distinguish between men and women about national issues,” said Abdulrazaq Hamzat, Executive Director of Peacepro.

This group shows that this is not the first time Badenoch has made a statement considered inaccurate or underestimated Nigeria. According to Hamzat, his public rhetoric revealed the “recurring pattern” of wrong comments describing the state and damaged its global reputation.

“It is not acceptable to someone in his position to continue to make factual wrong statements about sovereign countries, especially those who have old and strategic bonds with Britain,” the petition said.

Peacepro said they found a statement of Badenoch which was very troubling considering its high status in British politics and Nigerian heritage, with the reason that such comments-whether intentional or at risk of determining diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his strong letter, the organization urged the British authority to take immediate steps, including:

– Launching an internal review of Kemi Badenoch’s statement about Nigeria
– Ask for public apologies and formal corrections from the Minister
-Establish clearer guidelines to ensure British officials are involved in facts and respectful communication when referring to other countries

Peacepro warns that failure to act can set precedents that legitimize wrong information and damage diplomatic etiquette.

“Nigeria and Britain have deep historical, economic, and cultural ties. The bond must be treated with respect and care, not weakened by wrong information or underestimated rhetoric,” added Hamzat.

This group emphasizes the potential of the fall of Badenoch claims, especially when the two countries work to increase cooperation in trade, security, education, and migration policies.

Closing his petition, Peacepro reminded the British Parliament that honest and honorable discourse of public figures is very important for the development of peace and diplomacy.

“Peace is rooted in the truth. Diplomacy develops with mutual respect. Falseness does not serve peace. Disrespect does not serve diplomacy,” the petition concluded.
