The agents of a special operating unit of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested two brothers, the 43 -year -old John Abugu and the 31 -year -old Kenneth Abugu, at Murtala Muhammed international airport in the State of Lagos with five kilograms of cocaine hidden in the walls of their Suitcase while they were on board a flight to India.
The two brothers were arrested at Lagos airport on Thursday 3 April 2025, following proactive processing of credible intelligence.
They claimed to be traveling to India for medical care, but when their suitcases were carefully searched by the NDLEA officers, the whitish powder substances later confirmed that cocaine were discovered on the walls of their bags.
The director of the media and defense of the Ndlea, Femi Babafemi, revealed it through a declaration issued on Sunday 6 April.
Babafemi added that the anti -drug agency continued the awareness of its war against the abuse of drugs (Wada) to schools, centers of worship, workplaces and communities, among others, last week.
He listed the activities to include the lesson of Wada Enlightenment to the students and staff of the Cave City Secondary School, Ogidi, Anambra State; residents in the village of Dan’Iyau, Batagarawa LGA, State of Katsina; and members of the Nigerian Association of Patent Medicine retailers and owners to Sangere and Kwanan Waya, Yola, State of Adamawa; among others.
