The co-founder of Wikipedia Larry Sanger has announced his conversion from skeptic to Christianity
Sanger has announced his conversion to Christianity through a recent blog post.
“If I didn’t know this change and if I knew me before 2020, this could be a surprise,” Sangger wrote.
The Wikipedia co-founder added that the Bible “resists the questions” after having read it as a cover over the course of 100 days, convincing him to accept Jesus Christ as his savior.
In the post on his website named “as a skeptical philosopher becomes Christian”, Sanger revealed how he had lost his childhood faith as a teenager and became a believer in “methodological skepticism”.
Over the years he said, his opinions have started to change slowly as he re -examined the arguments for the existence of God, in the end leading him to read the entire Bible and convert to Christianity.
Sanger also explained how his curious nature led him to have doubts about God as a young adult, but later he brought him back to God and faith in Christ.
As a boy, Sanger said he has often left the patience of his parents and other adults in his life by asking complicated theological questions.
He said that as a teenager he came to the conclusion that a person’s world view has modeled the decisions that they made, for better or for worse.
“I essentially razed all my beliefs to the ground,” Sanger said in an interview with Fox News.
“This is what I said I was doing. And my belief in God went on foot at that moment, “he added.
Over the course of several years, Sanger said that his doubts about God began to fall, adding that he found himself defending Christians in response to what he saw as an increasingly hostile attitude from the atheists towards Christian beliefs.
The Wikipedia co-founder revealed that he was also intrigued by the occult and the idea of a spiritual world, saying that this curiosity led him to read the Bible in about 100 days to understand his message from a Christian perspective.
Sanger said at the same time that he began to review the topics for the existence of God, such as the topic of causality, the topic of contingency and the topic of design and has created that these topics adapt, as “pieces of puzzles”.
Sanger noticed that, with his surprise, he discovered that the Bible could resist his questions.
He said: “I discovered, with my shock and ribs, which in reality has much more sense than I understand. That all the questions I had asked before had been asked by other people and answered in various ways, some more plausible than others.
“However, there is an entire tradition of asking my questions and many others that I had not asked.
“The thing I had not understood is that the reason why there is a 2000 -year -old theology tradition is that the Bible resists questions. Otherwise, you would not be able to continue talking about it in such a detailed way and the doctrines behind it. “
He declared that he had started praying to God and in the end he accepted Christ as his Savior in 2020.
The Wikipedia co-founder admitted that he was initially amazed by his conversion, adding that he worked for several years on a book project that fills out the topics for the existence of God entitled: “God exists: a philosophical case for the Christian God”.
