The Consultative of Starting Forum elects 4 representatives in NCDIE

The Startup Consultative Forum (SCF), the Governance body of the apex established pursuant to the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA) to defend the growth, sustainability and competitiveness of the Nigeria startup agenda, has elected four representatives to serve the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCDIE).

The newly elected representatives are; Iyinoluwa Aboyeji South West, Charles Uchenna Erembolu South East, Abba Ibrahim Gamawa North East and Victoria Ojoagefu Manya North Central

According to a declaration by the director of Ms Hadiza Umar, company relations and media relationships (Nita), the people of newly elected newbies will represent the voices of the founders and startup innovators from all over the country.

“Their inclusion in the Council will guarantee that basic innovators, digital entrepreneurs and technological leaders play an active role in modeling the policies and strategies that directly affect the growth of the Nigerian start ecosystem.

“The electoral process was coordinated by the office for Nigerian digital innovation (Ondi) in the National Information Technology Development Agency (Nythda), in close compliance with the provisions of the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA),” he said.

He said that following the inauguration of the startup consultative forum in early 2025, members of all six geopolitical areas of the country have appointed and voted for candidates to represent their areas.

He said that the transparent and inclusive process underlines the commitment of Ondi and Nitda in strengthening the collaboration between government, innovators and interested parties in the sector.

“The National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCDIE) is the main body in charge of guiding the actual implementation of the law on Nigeria startup.

“The Council formulates policies, coordinates strategic initiatives and provides supervision that supports the institution and downsizing of companies led by innovation in Nigeria.

“For the first time in the history of the nation, the Council now incorporates democratically elected representatives of the startup community together with government agencies, regulators, investors, academy and other parties concerned, a reference result for inclusive governance.

“The election of the start representatives to the NCDIE is a significant step in the implementation of NSA, as it allows startup founders to participate directly in the discussions on the key political decisions that affect the ecosystem of Nigeria’s innovation.

“This move reflects a collective commitment in modeling the country’s digital future. This development will be expected to improve the trust between the government and the digital innovation community, will improve the feedback process on policies and promote a more favorable environment for young entrepreneurs.

“While the Council begins his work, the contributions of these elected representatives will play a vital role in modeling the ecosystem of the startups of Nigeria, promoting inclusiveness and ensuring that innovation produces a tangible economic and social impact throughout Nigeria.

“The National Information Technology Development Agency (Nita), through Ondi, reaffirms its unshakable commitment in the construction of a flourishing digital economy, feeding the startups and encouraging the type of collaboration that guarantees that innovation becomes a milestone of national development”, reads partly.
