In a declaration issued on Saturday by the Head of Public Relations of the Service, Abubakar Urar, the NCOS described the relationship as “misleading and harmful”, aimed at obscuring the image of the service.
Umar clarified that the officer in question, ASC I Efe Onakpoya (service no. 57790), was actually fired following an in -depth disciplinary investigation.
It was stated in “acts bewitched by a public official”, in particular for taking unauthorized photographs of a prisoner, Ibuchi Eze, at the medium security case center (MSCC), AFIKPO and loading them online.
He added that Onakpoya also made false accusations against the service, including the statement that a prisoner was brought out for a marital visit.
Umar stressed that the NCO was engaged in discipline, integrity and professionalism and would not forgive any action that undermines its fundamental values.
He urged the public to ignore the relationship and remain vigilant against attempts to discredit the service, reaffirming the ENCOS commitment for transparency and responsibility.
