On Tuesday, the independent corrupt practices and the other related crimes (ICPC) have announced a sentence of the court favorable by the honorable judge Josephine Obanor of the High Court of the territory of the Federal capital in Abuja, rejecting the attempts to hinder his official liability to conduct the investigations on the Funes of Kano scholarship.
The declaration states: “The independent corrupt practices and the other relative crimes (ICPC) have obtained a great judicial victory as the High Court of the Federal Capital territory, Abuja, sitting before the Hon. Josephine Obanor, rejected the attempts to retain the commission to carry out the statutory mandate of the investigations.
“The question was born from a petition received by the Commission regarding financial impropriety in the administration of scholarships funds in the State of Kano. During the investigation, ICPC invited officials of the Ministry of State of Kano and the Kano State Scholarship Board
“However, rather than respecting, the applicants, led by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of the State of Kano State of higher education, Dr. Hadi Bala, presented Cause n. CV/2857/2025, against the prosecutor General of the Federation and the ICPC, claiming that these invitations have violated their fundamental rights.
“Keeping a judgment on the matter, Judge Obanor established that the officials of the State Council of Kano’s State were adequately united as parts in the case and that the prosecutor General of the Federation was hit as a party, since his invoice was not necessary.
“The judge said that an ICPC invitation letter, for the purpose of investigation, does not constitute a violation of fundamental rights.”
