The Court announces the date of judgment for the elections of the Governorate of Ondo

The electoral petition court of the State of Ondo di Ondo set on June 4, 2025, to issue a judgment in the petitions presented against the Governorate’s elections from 16 November 2024.

The panel of three men led by judge Benson Ogbu announced the date after all the parties have adopted their final written addresses to Akure on Saturday 24 May 2025.

Other members of the Court are judge Imelda Etape and the judge Sikka Duarabo.

The Court, which started sitting on January 31, received five petitions by contesting the result of the Governorate’s elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa, winner of the elections.

The five signatories are looking for the cancellation of the elections for reasons of non -compliance with the provisions of the electoral law.

The signatories are Action Alliance and its candidate, Abdullahi Olowokere; And the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Bamidele Akingboye.

Others include the Democratic Party of people (PDP) and its candidate, Agbola Ajayi; the movement of allied people (APM) and his candidate, Kolawole Ogunfeyimi; And the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its candidate, Adeyemi Nejo.

The interviewees are APC, Aiyedatiwa, her running companion, Olayide Adelami and Iner.

The Consultant of the PDP, Ishaka Dikko and Bankole Akomolafe, argued that the elections were spoiled by substantial non -compliance with the electoral law and asked the Court to cancel Aiyedatiwa’s return certificate.

On the other hand, Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, and Iner has unjust the court to reject the petitions.

The interviewees – represented by Wole Olanipekun (San), Tayo Oyetibo (San) and Charles Edosomwan – urged the court to reject the petitions for lack of merit.
