A South African court considered a Nigerian televinist not guilty in 32 accusations on Wednesday, eight years after being imprisoned with accusations of violence and sexual aggression of several young women from his church.
The judge of the upper court of the Eastern Chapter Irma Schoeman said that the accusation managed his case badly against Tim Voloso, 66 years old, Senior Pastore at the Church of Jesus Dominion International (JDI) based in South Africa.
Homotor, arrested in 2017, he fell to his knees and seemed to pray after the judge had declared him not guilty of all accusations, including sexual exploitation and the trafficking of human beings.
Schoeman said that while the shepherd’s explanations appeared unlikely, public ministries did not show themselves beyond any reasonable doubt against him and two assistants who also had to face accusations.
“The accused are not guilty and are discharged with all the accusations,” he ruled.
The women who testified against homooso said they had been selected by the shepherd, who would have prayed for forgiveness after each meeting with them.
Some were part of a band of evangelical girls called Grace Galaxy established by the shepherd and others were still at school, said the judge.
With South Africa fighting with high rape rates and abuse of women and children, dozens of women stuck outside the court in the eastern coastal city of GQeberha while the verdict was read.
Thousands of people gathered in several cities on Tuesday to ask the authorities who act after a seven -year -old girl was raped in her school last year. There have been no arrests.
According to police data, 42,500 rapes were reported in South Africa in financial year 2023-24.
