The court ordered EFCC to release Aisha Achimugu within 24 hours

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a decisive order to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), which mandates the Socialite and Entrepreneur’s IMPLEMENTATION Liberation Aisha Achimugu in the next 24 hours.
>
> Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a brief decision submitted on Wednesday, further directing all parties involved in the lawsuit, especially EFCC, to appear before the court on May 2, 2025, to report their compliance with this order.
>
> This decision followed the previously directed Judge Ekwo on Monday, which instructed Achimugu to present him to EFCC in connection with an ongoing investigation against money laundering and other violations. The Monday order also determined that after his performance at the EFCC office, the anti-corruption agent would accompany him back to court on Wednesday, April 30, for progress reports.

However, Achimugu was arrested by EFCC operators at 5 am on Tuesday after his arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, a step that has now been resisted by a court release order.

EFCC’s investigation of Achimugu includes conspiracy accusations, earning money with fake stations, money laundering, corruption, and property ownership that are allegedly obtained illegally.

While Achimugu had previously been arrested and questioned by EFCC before being given administrative guarantees, the commission then accused that he escaped, which led to him was declared desirable.

In a public statement, EFCC has urged residents to provide information about the existence of Achimugu, which stated, “The public is told that Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu was sought by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission in a case of alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.”

EFCC, in his written statement to show the cause, detailed that during the previous arrest on February 12, 2024, Achimugu, before his lawyer, Darlington Ozurumba, gave a statement that explains substantial financial transactions through his company’s bank account.

According to the Commission, Achimugu acknowledged that ₦ 8,710,000,000.00 was paid by his partner as an investment for the acquisition of the Oil Block on November 8, 2022.

However, the further investigation of EFCC reportedly revealed that Achimugu, through its company, Ocean Gate Engineering Oil and Gas Limited, acquired two oil blocks with a total of $ 25,300,000, especially through cash payments to bureau of change operators which then transfer funds to the federal government through company accounts.

The commission accused that “the main source of the amount of $ 25,300,000 used in the acquisition of oil blocks is not related to its valid income or income or any business partners.” They further claimed that “Oil Block acquisitions were tainted by corruption practices, because bribery was paid to the Nigerian Upstream Oil Regulatory Commission official in the process” and that “no oil blocks were assigned/allocated for exploration oil and gas that were bounded by Date.

The Anti-Corruption Agency also stated that following the court’s decision to reject the previous lawsuit filed by Achimugu, they continued their investigation, reaching government institutions such as FIR and CBN. This further investigation allegedly revealed that Achimugu operates a total of 136 bank accounts in ten different banks, both personally and through its company.
