Judge Nudaheeka Nwosu-Iheme from the Federal Capital High Court (FCT), Wuse, on Monday sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to death by hanging.
The judge found Nwachukwu guilty of the murder of guilt in connection with the death of the singer.
Osinachi died on April 8, 2022.
Judge Nwosu-Iheme rejected the submission without the Nwachukwu case, opening the way for the final decision.
Emotional -charged cases have attracted national attention, especially given Osinachi’s fame and surprising accusations about prolonged domestic harassment that caused his death.
Nwachukwu was first charged on June 3, 2022, by the Office of the Attorney General Federation (OAGF).
He was charged with the accusations of 23 calculations of the murder that could be blamed that could be sentenced to death, criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, and partner batteries.

During the trial, the prosecution gave 17 witnesses, including two of the children of the deceased singer, who testified as witnesses to the fourth and fifth prosecution (PW4 and PW5).
The government also submitted 25 documents as exhibitions to support the case.
In his defense, Nwachukwu testified in his name, summoned four witnesses, and submitted four exhibitions.
Before the verdict, Nwachukwu’s lawyer, Reginald Nwali, filed an appeal for the relief of court punishment and highlighted gravity at that time.
However, the prosecution advisor, Ny. Aderonke Iman, urged the court to uphold the full burden of law.
Judge Nwosu-Imeme, in a detailed decision, sentenced Nwachukwu to die by hanging the murder that was blamed.
In addition, he got two years in prison for calculations 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 18; Six months in prison for count 10; and three years in prison for count 11.
The judge also fined the N500,000 inmates in Count 6 and N200,000 in Count 7.
