The court returns the Afrobeat Terry Apala singer for the alleged Naira mutilation

Nigerian singer Terry Alexander Ekeh, known as Terry Apala, has been returned by the court in Lagos on Naira mutilation charges.

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has demanded Terry Apala to mutilated Naira’s records during social meetings, an action that violates Nigeria’s law.

The artist was returned until May 5, 2025, when the guarantee application will be considered and decided, according to the decision given by Judge Akintayo Aluko on Friday, April 25, 2025.

EFCC accused the artist with an accusation of abuse of Naira, and musicians were transported before the court on the accusation. Ejeh danced at a social meeting at Madison Place, Oniru, Lagos Island, when the commission said he was stepping on cash.

“That you, Terry Alexander ejeh, on the 5th day of January 2025 at Madison Place, Oninu, in this honorable court jurisdiction while dancing during social events that were damaged by Naira Cata Singer Reading.

He is currently detained after the judge ordered his detention for additional hearing.

According to Nigerian law, depending on the situation and level of harassment, abuse of nira can result in fines and/or time in prison.

After the previous incident involving celebrities such as Bobrisky and the Head of Priest Cubana, the careful authorities had increased their hard action to prominent figures who misused Naira.
