The demonstrators get out against Trump and Musk in …

The opponents of President Donald Trump and the billionaire Elon Musk gathered in the United States on Saturday to protest the government’s downsizing administration, the economy, human rights and other issues against the actions of the administration.

More than 1,200 “Hands Off!” The events were planned by over 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, unions, supporters of LBGTQ+, veterans and electoral activists. The protest sites included the National Mall in Washington, DC, state chapters and other locations in all 50 states.

The demonstrators attacked the moves of the Trump administration to fire thousands of federal workers, close the offices on the field of the social security administration, effectively block entire agencies, expel immigrants, resize the protections for transgender people and cut federal funding for health programs.

Musk, a Trump consultant who owns Tesla, Spacex and the Social Media X platform, has played a key role in the reduction of the government as head of the Department of Efficiency of the government just created. He says he is sparing taxpayers billions of dollars.

Kelley Robinson, president of the defense group of the human rights campaign, spoke to the Washington protest, criticizing the treatment of the Trump administration of the LBGTQ+community.

“The attacks we are seeing are not only politicians. They are personal, everyone,” he said. “They are trying to ban our books, they are cutting the funding for HIV prevention, they are criminalizing our doctors, teachers, our families and our lives. This is Donald Trump’s America and we don’t want it.

Thousands of people marched in the Midtown Manhattan in New York City. In Massachusetts thousands of people collected on Boston Common Holding Signals including “Hands off our Democracy”, “Hands off of our social security” and “The equity inclusion of diversity makes America strong. Hands!”

In Ohio, hundreds gathered in the rain at the Columbus Statehouse.

Roger Broom, 66, a retired of Delaware County, Ohio, told Rally Columbus that he was a Republican Reagan but was deactivated by Trump.

“This country is getting to pieces,” Broom said. “It’s just an administration of grievances.”

Hundreds of people have also shown Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a few kilometers from the Trump golf course to Jupiter, where he spent the morning at the Club Championship Senior Club. People have flanked on both sides of Pga Drive, encouraging cars to play the horn and singing slogans against Trump.

Archer Moran of Port St. Lucie, Florida, said: “They must keep their hands out of our social security”.

“The list of what they need to keep their hands out is too long,” said Moran. “And it is incredible how soon these protests have been happening since it came into office.”

The president plans to go to Golf again on Sunday, according to the White House.

To the question about protests, the White House has declared in a declaration that “the position of President Trump is clear: it will always protect social security, medicate and medicoid for suitable beneficiaries. In the meantime, the position of the Democrats is giving social benefits, medicoids and benefits of the drug for illegal aliens, which will fail these programs and slapped the American elderly.”

The activists have staged national events against Trump or Musk several times since Trump returned to office. But the movement of the opposition has yet to produce a mass mobilization such as women’s march in 2017, which brought thousands of women to Washington, DC, after the first inauguration of Trump, or the demonstrations of Black Lives Matter who broke out in several cities after the murder of George Floyd in 2020.

In Charlotte, in the North Carolina, the demonstrators said to support a variety of causes, from social security and from education to immigration and to women’s reproductive rights.

“Regardless of your party, regardless of who you voted, what is happening today, what is happening today is horrible,” said Britt Castillo, 35 years old, from Charlotte. “It is as disgusting and broken as our current system, the way the current administration is trying to repair things – it is not the way to do it. They are not listening to people.”

“Everything they are doing is to make sure you have a parachute for them and their rich friends, and all the others here who live here – who makes the gears for this country run – are just screwed at the end of the day,” he said. [AP]
