The deputy governor of Rivers, Ngozi Odu, rejected a viral relationship of his resignation.
He said he was engaged in his role and duties.
Voices on the resignation of the deputy governor emerged after a viral video on social media suggested that he had resigned due to political pressure
In response, his press secretary, Owupe Benebo, issued a statement on Wednesday by categorically denying reports.
He clarified that the deputy governor was fully dedicated to his role and continued to play his responsibilities.
The declaration stated: “The deputy governor of the state of spinners are the desires to categorically browse the false and misleading relationships that circulate online by suggesting that his excellence, Prof. Ngozi NMA Odu, Dssrs, has resigned”.
Benebo reiterated that Prof. Odu was still actively serving alongside the governor Siminalayi Fubara and focused on the supply of effective governance to the people of the State of the rivers.
“Contrary to these unfounded statements, his excellence remains engaged in his duties of deputy governor, a position that has been duly elected to serve alongside his excellence, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Gssrs, executive governor of the state of spinners,” he said.
The declaration described Odu as a dedicated public employee and academic which “plays a key role in the administration”.
He also highlighted his contributions to the political process and governance in the state.
According to Benebo, “his leadership and exemplary competence were precious for the administration and remains firm in his commitment and support for his excellence, Sir Dr. Siminalayi Fubara, Gssrs.”
The deputy governor’s office urged the public to ignore the voices, calling them misleading and unfounded.
“We urge the public to ignore these unfounded relationships, which are clearly the product of harmful speculations,” said Benebo.
