The EFCC arrested former Governor Darius Ishaku over alleged N9.3 billion fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, over alleged N9.3 billion fraud, TheCable reports.

Sources told the news platform on Friday that the former governor has been detained by anti-corruption agencies in Abuja.

Ishaku will be arraigned alongside former permanent secretary of the local government and chieftaincy affairs bureau in the state, Bello Yero, on 15 counts of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of state funds at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in the coming days.

The commission filed the charges on Thursday.

The offence, according to the EFCC, is contrary to Section 315 of the Criminal Code Act, Chapter 532, Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria Law of 2007.

Ishaku, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was governor of Taraba State from 2015 to 2023.
