The excitement for GOCOP 2024 meeting begins in Lokoja

 

There is palpable excitement as the 2024 annual conference of the Guild of Online Business Publishers, GOCOP, begins today, Wednesday 2 October, in Lokoja.

Hosted by the Kogi State Government with a plethora of partners and sponsors who identify with the Guild, the two-day conference provides a veritable platform to analyze critical issues of security, power and economics in the country.

The meeting will explore the theme: “Nigeria: addressing insecurity, power deficit and the transition to the digital economy”.

Former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, will deliver the keynote address.

The two-day event will also feature exclusive business and capacity building sessions for GOCOP members; Wednesday 2 October working lunch with GOCOP sponsors and corporate communications managers from media organizations and consultants around the country.

The main conference open to the public will be held on Thursday 3 October.

Among the speakers confirmed for the event
Yusuf Mamman, former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain, who is the Chairman of the conference, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, former Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army (retd), and Aminu Maida, Executive Vice President of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The conference will also feature a speaker session involving Rotimi Ajayi, professor of political science at the Federal University of Lokoja, and Debrah M. Ogazuma, edutainment communicator and veteran host.

In 2021, Chief Mustapha, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, delivered a keynote speech at the conference and spoke on: “Post Covid-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria ”.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, delivered the opening speech of the 2022 edition with the theme “2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Results”.

Companies and organizations on the list of sponsors and partners are National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Delta and Lagos state governments, Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Other sponsors include the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and T-Pumpy Concept Limited.

Others are Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Emadeb Group and Dangote Group, TotalEnergies, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Setraco Nigeria Limited, United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Access Bank plc, Zenith Bank plc, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Fidelity Bank plc, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (STI), Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) and National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to name just a few.
